Steering Committee

The Steering Committee consists of the political leaders of the B7 islands. The Committee meets twice a year to discuss the ongoing and further activities and to review the achieved results of the cooperation.

During the budget year the Steering Committee acts as the executive power of the B7 cooperation. The Steering Committee can initiate cooperation activities and decide which B7 projects should be supported.

The Steering Committee actively contributes to a positive development on the islands and in the Baltic Sea Area by initiating and supporting co-operation projects. The Committee acts in the interests of the B7 islands on the EU and national government levels when new legislation, programmes or other measures concerning the islands are being discussed or prepared.

The tasks of the Steering Committee include:

  • appointing the B7 Board and its chairman;
  • taking initiatives for common action;
  • forming work groups or giving guidelines to them;
  • arranging the annual conference;
  • supervising the secretariat and the B7 Brussels office.
